ASTRO BOY

Astro Boy, also called Atom, in Japan, is a 2009 computer-animated 3-D film based on the long-running Japanese permit of the similar name by Osamu Tezuka. It was produced by Imagi Animation Studios, the animation production company of TMNT. It was directed by David Bowers and produced by Maryann Garger. Freddie Highmore provides the voice of Astro Boy in the movie. The movie also features the voices of Kristen Bell, Nathan Lane, Eugene Levy, Matt Lucas, Bill Nighy, Donald Sutherland, and Nicolas Cage.

In the futuristic Metro City, Astro Boy is about a robot (Freddie Highmore) with many powers, invented by the grieving scientist Dr. Tenma (Nicolas Cage), in the vision of his son, Toby, who died in an mishap. Unable to perform the fathers' hope, the robot embarks on a voyage in search of acceptance, becoming part of a troupe of rowdy kids on the outside world below the balanced city. There he meets a girl named Cora (Kristen Bell) and unintentionally becomes part of a world of robot gladiators led by the selfish, Fagin-like ringmaster Hamegg (Nathan Lane), before he returns to save Metro City from the immoral president's (Donald Sutherland) rebel giant robot, and settle with the father who had rejected him.

The feature film was released first in Japan on October 10, 2009, and in the US on October 23, 2009 with PG rating for Mild Violence, mild language and is excellent for kids. The feature film currently holds a 47% 'Rotten' rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 74 reviews with an average score of 5.6/10. It is a version of Astro Boy [Anime Series] .
