Antibodies director Christian Alvart takes suspense into outer space with the story of two astronauts trapped on a spacecraft with no idea of their identities or their assignment. Pandorum casting Dennis Quaid(Lt. Payton) and Ben Foster(Corporal Bower) ,is a 2009 American/German science fiction/horror film written by Travis Milloy. The two team members wake to find themselves drifting through outer space 500 billion miles away from Earth with no clue of who they are or what is their assignment or what happened to the team of 60,000 passenger sleeper ship or what are those bizarre sounds coming from the other side of the ship. They are unable to access the ship's bridge, unable to pass on with the crew members as well as the flight team. The only way out of their hyper-sleep cavity is a restricted airshaft. As Ben Foster shimmies inside to scrutinize , Dennis Quaid mans the radio transmitter. While exploring , Foster encounters several other team members and realizes that a terrible incident has happened on board which might have affected the survival of entire human species. Some crew members suffer from a psychosis- a dangerous psychological state called Pandorum which can be brought about by being in deep outer space for extended time periods, and is triggered to an irrepressible level of intense emotional disturbance. Those afflicted with Pandorum experience severe paranoia, vivid hallucinations - and finally murderous fury.
Their mission is exposed to be one of anxiety. Earth, suffering from immense overpopulation, dispatched the sleeper ship and its team on a 120-year expedition to a new, Earth-like planet to make a settlement. But afterwards they realized that Earth has been destroyed and they are the last humans. Meanwhile Foster realizes that Quaid has succumbed to Pandorum, murdering other crew members .Fighting with the symptoms of Pandorum, Foster murders Quaid and escapes with the last survivor , and ejects the remaining 1213 survivors who are then able to begin building their settlement lastly accomplishing their assignment.
Pandorum is similar to Danny Boyle's Sunshine(2007), Ridley Scott's Alien (1979). Pandorum was released on 25th September 2009 in United States and is due to release on 2nd October,2009 in the UK. Its MPAA rating is R. for strong horror violence and language.
